Beauty takes on a major role in our society. We see magazines toting the latest hairstyles, makeup tutorials and newest face/neck creams designed to erase fine lines and wrinkles. TV ads feature celebrities with beautiful hair and flawless makeup.
Nowadays, I can look on other blogs and even YouTube and see young women show off their extensive makeup kits and collection of beauty products they use in their lengthy beauty routine.
To be honest, it kind of frightens me. It’s almost like it’s a requirement for a woman to have so many beauty products for 1 – 3 beauty routines that can easily be pushed down into one simple routine (with the exception of makeup if you suffer from skin issues).
Which brings me to my question: Why don’t we try having a simplistic, minimalist beauty routine?
There are so many products out there that can do more than what they’re advertised for. I’m trying to move towards a simple, minimalist lifestyle and simplifying my beauty routine was one of the many changes I’ve made!
The products you see above are some of my products used for either multiple purposes or have been created by me. An organic soap bar used for four purposes (hair, face, body and shaving), a bath/body oil used for baths and as a pre-shave oil, a DIY deodorant cream and an organic body lotion.
But there’s much more than shown here! I’ve now taken to making my own products for both my hair and skin! Having a routine that takes a few minutes has saved me precious time and energy for my usual plans (like blogging to you guys, of course)! Plus, introducing natural ingredients to my body has definitely paid off; my skin glows and my hair is way healthier than before.
What I’m trying to say is that you don’t need to have so many products used for only one purpose. There are so many out there that can be used for multiple purposes and your beauty routine would get simple easily. Plus, you won’t need to clutter up your shower with so many products.
Give it a try; make it your personal goal and let me know how simplifying your beauty routine helped you!
