Review | NYX Shine Killer

It’s mid-summer and I’m trying to survive this terrible heat wave going on in the southern states, particularly Florida. A bottle filled with water has become a necessity and I usually arrive home in a sweaty, tired state. On the flip side, at least I got to visit the beach and the swimming pool on my days off so that was a relief!

Aside for all that, I have a review for you after I’ve been looking around at my favorite stores for beauty products. This will be on a product from NYX, a well-known makeup brand for makeup enthusiasts all around!

This item here is the Shine Killer and it can be found at select Target stores and at Ulta Beauty for around $13.99 plus tax. You get a total of 0.67 oz of product in this tube.

After I used my Cover FX Mattifying Primer down to the last drop, I was ready to get another primer. But money was very low and I wasn’t willing to fork over another $38 for a small tube of primer, so I started looking in stores and online for cheaper options. This primer happened to be one of the cheaper primers that I decided to try.

Simply put, this is a great primer to use! I use very tiny amounts to certain sections of my face (especially my T-zone) to control the oil that builds up there and my face is left matte and shine-free for several hours! It’s a clear gel consistency and a little goes a long way. Plus, it’s very easy to spread on my clean face so application takes mere minutes.

On the issue of makeup, I’m not a makeup lover nor do I wear several layers of makeup at a time. So sadly, I can’t speak on how well it does with keeping your makeup on or if keeps your makeup fresh all day. It seems to work fine with my tinted moisturizer (currently Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, but it will soon change) as long as I don’t overdo it, so that’s good.

My only complaint is the bottle size. The Cover FX bottle was somewhat bigger than this and I wish that this primer was just a little bit larger considering the price of it. I’m not somebody that likes paying large amounts of money for such a small amount, but that’s just me.

All in all, this is a great alternative to the the much more expensive primers you may find in high end beauty stores! So if you’re looking for a cheaper option, I recommend this! Give it a try; it’s great for oily skin and it may work on keeping your makeup on all day!

Until next time and I’ll see you in the next post! If you’ve tried this primer, let me know how it worked for you below!
