NOTE: The brands I mention here are on the expensive side. I’m not forcing anyone to get the products immediately, so if you don’t have the money for them, feel free to wait until you do.
Hello again! The Spring semester at the university has started and I’m already geared up for whatever projects my class is going to bring. Plus, my class is only on Friday mornings, so that leaves me plenty of time to talk to all of you!
Since I discovered Instagram a long time ago and decided to make an account, I’ve discovered so many brands dedicated to skin care and hair care that’s vegan, vegetarian, organic and cruelty-free. Some of the brands I’ve been fortunate to save up the funds to try myself, but there were many that I haven’t gotten to yet.
Regardless, not only have these brands allowed me to pamper my body for less, but they’ve caused me to change the way I approach beauty in general!
So here are some of those brands on Instagram that I’ll share with you! I’ll put them into categories so you don’t get easily confused.
Category 1: Face & Body Care
This was the first face/body scrub I found and tried. It’s great and I talked about it on an old YouTube video that’s linked here. It comes in five “flavors” for you to try: Bamboo, Green Tea, Activated Charcoal, and Coffee. The company originated in Australia and has been growing in popularity ever since! Everything’s vegan, cruelty-free and has natural ingredients! Take a look; the company also has body oils, body washes and luxurious body polishes too!
This is another company that started in Australia and grew in popularity when the first body scrub was released. Aside from the scrubs (Coconut, Peppermint, Cacao, Shimmer and Original), there are also kits to help you get started if you’ve never tried the products! Body balms, face care, and lip care are included! My review of the Shimmer Scrub is here.
So far, this is my favorite scrub of all! I did a review on this after I got my bag for free from the founder/owner of the company. The scrub only comes in three “flavors (Coconut, French Vanilla and Rose),” but it’s fantastic for the face and for the body! If you love coffee or like a great coffee body scrub, this is the company you should go for!
I recently discovered this Australian company during the whole craze and popularity behind Matcha, a type of green tea used mostly in foods, drinks… and now in beauty products. It is a green scrub and it guarantees it has no preservatives or chemicals! I’ll try it eventually, but if you love Matcha green tea, this may be the product for you to check out!
Now that I’ve covered body and face care, let’s move on to the next category!
Category 2: Hair Care
My very first brand that I used for my hair and still using to this day! It started as a hair mask that had multiple uses and could be used for all hair types. Now, it has the hair mask, hair oil, dry shampoo, regular shampoo and conditioner as part of the brand! I love My Mane Care (my old review on the mask is here) now and you might too! Give this company’s products a try! Oh, did I mention that the products are vegan and cruelty-free?
By the time I discovered this brand on Instagram, it was already one of the most popular hair care brands out there (well, not as popular as Shea Moisture, Carol’s Daughter, but you get the idea). It started with only one hair mask, but it added a Botanical Edition and an Island Escape Edition to make three different hair masks! Shampoo and conditioner are also included and the brand even has a shampoo and conditioner for blonde hair too! All products are vegan, cruelty-free and contain organic ingredients. I haven’t tried it yet because of the price, but it’s on my future list. Check it out!
This is the only brand that I actually found in Ulta Beauty first before I sought it out on Instagram. The only product available is a hair treatment, but this treatment contains superfood ingredients suspended in a coconut oil-butter base. When I want to take a break from making my own DIY treatments, this product is the one I reach for (if I don’t reach for My Mane Care first…) and it does great on my afro! Give this a try; you can find it in a few stores too!
All right-y, on to the last category!
Category 3: “Jack-of-All-Trades” Brands
Before finding this, I only knew about activated charcoal. Not activated COCONUT charcoal. Once I stumbled onto this brand by scrolling through random health-related photos, I decided to learn about this ingredient as much as possible. This company started in Australia (notice a pattern here?) and it includes a bag of the activated coconut charcoal, an eye mask, and a facial mask. The charcoal itself is advertised to have multiple uses for the outside and the inside of your body! I haven’t tried it yet, but I think it’s worth looking into.
Started by two people as a way to relieve eczema flare-ups, this brand became a huge hit and has since expanded its range of products including face scrubs, teeth whitening powder, hair masks, and lip care. Plus the ingredients are cruelty-free, vegan, organic and great for your body! I’m very interested in trying out one of the hair masks, but if this is in your interest, talk a look around their website! Oh, did I forget to mention that their scrubs include coffee too?
Upon discovering this brand while on my journey towards reducing waste, I was floored by their mission and have been following them ever since. This company was started by two women who wanted to reduce the amount of waste that pollutes our oceans, land and such. Their dream blossomed into an amazing business that sells shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion and hand wash in stainless-steel bottles that when used up, they can be sent back to be cleaned out and reused again in the future! I will definitely be trying two of their products and if you are a fan of zero waste or looking for more vegan brands that help our environment, this is the brand for you!
Whew! That was a lot of typing there. But that’s all I have for you. Do your research and decide which of these you want to try! I wish I could try all of them honestly. . .
